Smoothies or ‘energy shots’ as I like to call them, are easy to make and are a fun fusion of much-needed nutrients. Smoothies also happen to be therapeutic, as these natural blends can also help to ease chronic pain. These recipes were inspired by Tess Masters and her book Blender Girl: Super-Easy, Super-Healthy Meals, Snacks, Desserts, and Drinks–100 Gluten-Free, Vegan Recipes!

 Lingering chronic pain can lead to arthritis, heart disease and several other illnesses. Consuming food that inhibits inflammation can be a real chore – but it’s made fast and easy when you cram all of the ingredients into a blender and churn them into a delicious, gulpable drink!

Here’s a list of 6 easy and natural smoothies that can help to tame your pain! 

1. Berryli’cious Punch:

This particular smoothie is filled with berries that are known particularly for their antioxidant content called ‘anthocyanins’. They are believed to reduce a variety of different illnesses according to several studies. Experts suggest consuming berries on a daily basis can reduce the risk of cancer, memory-loss disorders, control blood pressure and improve overall health.

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

½ cup coconut water

1 pear (ripe, deseeded and diced)

2 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen)

½ cup grapes (red seedless ones)

1 date (pitted and soaked)

1 cup ice cubes

½ tsp ginger (minced)

½ tsp orange zest (finely grated)

Preparation:

Blend the ingredients except ice cubes for 30 seconds and then add the ice cubes till the mixture turns smooth. Serve immediately.

 

 

2. Tangy Green Chill:

Ingredients:

½ cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

3 cups grapes (green; seedless)

1 bunch parsley leaves (flat, chopped)

½ avocados (small, pitted and peeled)

2 tsp ginger (minced)

1 tsp sugar

1-2 cups ice cubes

Preparation:

Blend all the ingredients in a blender until a uniform creamy mixture is created. Serve chilled.

1 cup coconut water

2 ½ cup pineapple (diced)

1 cup baby spinach

3 tbsp cucumber (finely chopped)

1 cup ice cubes

Salt and sugar (to taste; optional)

Preparation:

Blend all the ingredients in a blender until the mixture turns smooth. Adjust for seasonings and it is ready to serve.

1 cup mango (diced; fresh or frozen)

½ cup papaya (diced; fresh or frozen)

½ cup pineapple (diced; fresh or frozen)

1 tbsp lemon juice

½ tsp turmeric (or yellow curry powder)

1-2 cups of ice cubes

Black pepper powder (a pinch)

Salt and sugar (to taste)

Preparation:

Put all the ingredients in a blender and run it on high till it’s creamy. Check for seasonings. Pour into tall glasses and serve. 

 

5. Sensational Papaya-Ginger Smoothie:
